该项比赛由世界各个高校组队参加 www.dit.upm.es/aalvarez/SDEurope_eng.pdf 1 INTRODUCTION The present proposal aims at achieving the maximum level of sustainability in a Solar-powered, energy self-sufficient house in Washington D.C., which means addressing the following aspects: - The design of housing technology and modular structure will provide a flexible eventual dimensioning according to any possible commerciality of the system; - The Architectonic Integration of all the energy systems and its conditions will be the result of functional, comfortable housing with an attractive view; - Climate conditions, leading to the shape of the house; - Energy needs, leading to the selection of appliances and equipment and to the design and integration of active solar systems (thermal and photovoltaic); - Pollutant and wastes, leading to the selection of materials according to their lifetime, and to water management strategies. Main singularity of this proposal is its basis on the connectivity of climate conditions requirements to the ultimate design of a prototype through the selection of design strategies, materials and equipment, for which all decisions will be taken after an exhaustive analysis. The design process is organized in subsequent phases, interrelated, where the decision making will be based on previous experiences. This approach is also of high education value, making the students participating in the working team being able to understand and use the scientific principle of decision-making. Final result will be based on the European traditional building philosophy characterized by a consistent and coherent distribution of inner spaces, an enriching relation between these and outer spaces. Also, we will pay a lot of attention to the selection of stable and friendly materials, while avoiding anecdotal or typical designs that could lead to a false ethnical or folk architecture. At the same time, the limiting impact solar technologies strongly affecting the shape of the house will be avoided. In this sense, concern for aesthetics will prevail over maximizing the efficiency: a solar house can be also a beautiful one. We would like to reference our participation in the recent edition of Solar Decathlon 2005, with the 3 proposal of "Magic Box" from the Technical University of Madrid, where we obtained high recognition.
